Vendor Application (New vendors use the preliminary application first.)
By now you may be sick and tired of me talking about the weather.  Having said that, “what about this weather!” The seasonal clock seems to have moved by a month or two. As I write this, I’m tempted to put on my shorts and a t-shirt to go to the Winter Market at Sargents. Being a native Minnesotan, I know this won’t last and probably by the time you read this, we’ll have a streak of exceptionally cold weather and the deepest snow of the season.  Let’s just cross our fingers for a reasonably warm spring to kick off the planting season.

We are working on many new ideas for the upcoming spring/summer market. We are considering establishing an evening market on Wednesdays at City Hall from 4 - 8 pm, and including a few more vendors. At the Ideas Slam program, Dianne Aisenbrey, representing the market, gave a pitch for funding for an electronic Food Stamp program to be implemented at the market. Matching funds would be included to double the value of the Food Stamps. I feel that this is important both for the vendors (more sales) as well as our financially challenged consumers.

And last, but certainly not least, I want to shout out a call for a new market manager. Dianne has worked tirelessly ever since the inception of the market and she needs a well deserved break. We are seeking someone to help manage the market as well as to oversee the implementation of the Food Stamp/EBT Program. Please help us find a great candidate and have them contact Dianne or myself.

I also want to encourage the Friends of the Market to recruit more Friends who will get actively involved.  Just a few more hands on Saturday would really lighten the load for everyone who is involved in making the Market happen every week. There are many other exciting things brewing for the market this spring/summer. We invite you and your friends and family to attend a market and see for your selves all that it has to offer people in our community.
